Introduction

Engineers work in a complex work environment and can be involved in a variety of different industries. They often prefer informal information sources, such as co-workers, to formal sources like journals and books. By understanding what influences an engineer’s information seeking practices librarians can more effectively conduct reference interviews and design specialized digital reference services to help engineers efficiently meet their information needs.
